Helicopter Pilot Training
Our Training Manager is Alan Deal. Alan has over 40yrs aviation experience. He has a military background, having served for 26 years in the Royal NZ Air Force where he gained both fixed wing and rotary wing experience, as well as Operations management and Flight Safety management skills. Operational Tours included Peacekeeping with the Multinational Force and Observers in the Sinai Desert.
He has been with Helilink for the last 17 years, flying helicopters in the Commercial, Police, Emergency Medical Services/Rescue and Training Roles. He holds an Airline Transport Pilot Licence (Helicopter) with multi engine, instrument and NVG endorsements. He is a Multi-Engine Flight Instructor and an Airline Flight Examiner.
Helilink is a NZCAA Part 141 Approved Training Organisation.
CAA approved ground training courses include:
- BK117 Pilots Technical Knowledge Course
- AS355 Pilots Technical Knowledge Course
- A119 Pilots Technical Knowledge Course
- AS350 Pilots Technical Knowledge Course
Flight Training courses include:
- Type rating courses for R44, AS350 and A119 Koala helicopters
- Multi Engine Conversion Training, including NZCAA approved Type Rating training for AS355 and BK117 helicopters,
- Instrument flight instruction, and
- Night Instruction.
Helilink can also conduct aircrew annual proficiency checks.
In addition, we have extensive experience in training Supplementary Flight Crews for both Police and Rescue helicopter operations, including rappelling and winch operations.
